New High-Tech Magic Spectacle Debuts at Historic Malco Theatre

A brand-new production from illusionist Jonathan Erlandson is bringing large-scale magic back to the spotlight in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The Historic Malco Theatre has officially launched its 2026 season with an all-new version of “Jonathan Erlandson: Magic & Illusion,” a show designed to blend classic stage magic with cutting-edge theatrical technology.

The newly reimagined production has been built from the ground up and features a variety of visual elements rarely seen in regional theatre magic shows. Audience members can expect a full-scale theatrical experience combining grand illusions, modern lighting design, immersive video displays, and live camera projections that allow spectators to witness close-up sleight-of-hand on the big screen.

One of the highlights of the production is a featured aerial performance from the act Illusion of Aerial, which adds acrobatics and choreography to the magical spectacle. The show also includes dramatic levitations, surprising appearances, intricate hand magic, and dance elements designed to keep the audience engaged throughout the approximately 90-minute performance.

Erlandson says the goal of the updated show was to take the theatre’s resident production to a completely new level.

“We wanted to completely shatter expectations this year,” Erlandson explained. “By combining classic theatrical elements with massive production upgrades and brand-new magic, we’re creating a world-class experience right here in Hot Springs.”

The production will run year-round at the Historic Malco Theatre, located in the heart of downtown Hot Springs, offering both locals and tourists a chance to experience a modern illusion show in an intimate historic venue.

To encourage local attendance, Garland County residents can receive 15% off tickets when purchasing at the door with a valid ID.
