Young Scuba Magician Makes Waves as PADI Ambassadiver
A young magician is proving that magic doesn’t just belong on stage—it can thrive beneath the ocean’s surface.
Avery Fisher, a 16-year-old scuba diver from Tiburon, California, is making headlines once again after being named one of the newest Ambassadivers for PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors).
Fisher first captured international attention at just 13 years old when she set a Guinness World Record for performing the most magic tricks underwater in three minutes. During her record-breaking performance at San Francisco’s Aquarium of the Bay, she stunned audiences by completing 38 illusions, nearly doubling the previous record of 20 held by a UK magician.
Since then, her journey has continued to grow—both in magic and in her passion for the ocean.
“I see my partnership with PADI as a way to help make diving cool for people my age and to be as knowledgeable as possible about the ocean to help save it,” Fisher shared with Divernet while diving in the Bahamas.
From Magic to Marine Conservation
Avery’s unique blend of magic and scuba diving began during the pandemic, when she learned to dive at just 10 years old. What started as a lockdown project quickly turned into a serious pursuit, earning her multiple certifications and eventually the title of youngest “Scuba Magician”—a specialty developed by Master Instructor Chef Anton Riniti.
Riniti praised her talent and dedication, calling her:
“A natural… and a true role model for young people everywhere.”
But Fisher’s impact goes far beyond performance.
As a Youth Ambassador for the Aquarium of the Bay, she has helped raise over $500,000 for marine conservation efforts and continues to speak publicly about protecting ocean ecosystems.
A Growing Platform
Her new role as a PADI Ambassadiver is already taking her around the world, with recent dives in Maui, Monterey, and the Bahamas—and more initiatives on the horizon, including upcoming work with the California Coastal Commission.
While her schedule is packed with travel, advocacy, and even competitive volleyball, her story shows how magic can open unexpected doors—and make a real-world impact.
Why This Matters to Magicians
Avery Fisher’s journey is a powerful reminder that magic isn’t limited to traditional venues. Whether it’s on stage, on screen, or even underwater, creativity and passion can push the art form into entirely new worlds.
Her story also highlights something important:
Magic can inspire, educate, and even help raise awareness for causes bigger than ourselves.
