Fontainebleau Brings “Mind2Mind” Mentalism Experience to Las Vegas

Fontainebleau Las Vegas is preparing to welcome a brand-new mentalism experience this summer as husband-and-wife duo James Harrington and Mariani Liani bring their new show Mind2Mind to the intimate Azul Lounge beginning June 4.

The production will run Thursdays through Sundays through September 27, with additional Friday and Saturday performances scheduled at 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The show is produced by the same creative team behind The Magician’s Study, the long-running secret parlor-style magic experience that has entertained audiences on the Las Vegas Strip for the past decade.

Harrington and Liani are no strangers to television audiences, having appeared on major magic and talent showcase programs including America's Got Talent, Britain's Got Talent, and Masters of Illusion. The pair is also set to return for the upcoming season of America’s Got Talent premiering June 2.

Among the accolades highlighted by the duo is a prestigious Gold Medal from Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques, commonly known as FISM, which is widely regarded as one of the highest honors in the world of magic and mentalism.

Mind2Mind focuses on close-up “second sight” demonstrations — a classic style of mentalism in which one performer is blindfolded while the other interacts with audience members, gathering objects or information that somehow appears to be transmitted telepathically. Audience members can expect thought revelations, mind-reading demonstrations, predictions, and interactive psychological effects throughout the 75-minute performance.

With Azul Lounge seating only around 80 guests, the show is designed to offer a highly intimate experience where audiences can witness the demonstrations from just feet away. Guests attending the performance can also choose an optional three-course dinner package from Washing Potato, Fontainebleau’s dim sum restaurant, available exclusively on show nights.

Silk Off Hanger

Now available at www.magiciansmagicshop.com

The Acrobatic Silks just got an upgrade for modern times! Now you can perform it with the silks tied to a coat hanger!

This classic works just as before: With four different silks tied with knots to a hanger, have your spectator name any colored silk. Whichever silk is named, it visibly falls to the floor. Repeat this with all of the silks.

Time to upgrade your presentation of this venerable classic.

Illusionist Darcy Oake Bringing Intimate Magic Experience to Calgary

International illusionist Darcy Oake is stepping away from massive stage productions and bringing a more personal style of magic to audiences in Calgary this week.

Best known for his large-scale illusions, television appearances, and theatrical touring productions, Oake says this upcoming performance at Ace Casino Westin Calgary Airport offers something fans do not normally get to experience.

“It’s really intimate,” Oake explained while discussing the unique atmosphere of the show. Unlike a traditional theater performance filled with perfectly timed cues and large-scale staging, this event creates a more relaxed and close-up experience for the audience.

The performance space has been transformed into a smaller theater-style environment, giving audience members a rare opportunity to experience Oake’s magic in a more personal setting. According to Oake, these types of performances allow for a different energy between performer and audience.

While his productions are known for polished illusions and dramatic presentation, Oake says magic at this level becomes more fluid and spontaneous. He explained that misdirection often changes depending on the audience, venue, and atmosphere, requiring performers and crew members to adapt in real time.

Oake also acknowledged the challenge modern magicians face in the age of Google and social media, where audiences often attempt to uncover the secrets behind illusions before or after the show. Rather than fighting that curiosity, he says performers now have to stay ahead of it and use audience expectations to strengthen the experience.

“We have to be more on top of it,” Oake shared, describing magic as a psychological balancing act between performer and spectator.

The show takes place Friday, May 8, at The Westin Ballroom inside Ace Casino Westin Calgary Airport.
